Quimantu - VIVA LA NAVIDAD! tour
A festive and vibrant mix of the Spanish and African sounds that are fused in the traditions of Latin American Christmas celebrations.
Viva La Navidad explores the roots of the Aguinaldos (Venezuela and Caribbean) and Villancicos (Southern Cone) styles of festive music through a kaleidoscope of rhythm and song. The concerts will include new works composed by Quimantu's director Mauricio Venegas-Astorga for Viva La Navidad, giving audiences a unique insight into the spirit and culture of the Christmas festival as it is celebrated in different countries and regions of Latin America. These works will be complemented by arrangements of traditional seasonal songs and dances to inspire the festive spirit, including Quimantu's own arrangements of songs and tunes well known to British audiences at this time of year.
